These prints were completed as a part of a portfolio with the theme, “Decadence.” My view of decadence deals with overabundance. I started with images of “hoarded spaces” and made a 3D collage (it has a little depth so I can get real-life shadows), then photographed it. I traced this image onto the copper… and etched, printed, repeated.
I made two versions of this print. The original idea was based on watching hoarding television shows on a flat screen TV (ultimate decadence), so I used the dimensions of a flat screen for the plate. The first version (HD) is seen in “High Definition,” while the second, (Standard to lo-def) is printed on a lesser-quality, more gray paper, and has the two black bars on the edges.
